Pletal is a medication used to alleviate leg pain induced by disease of the blood vessel. The generic name for the medication is Cilostazol. The leg pain occurs when limping and walking. Cilostazol will help to increase how far a person can walk by generating oxygen and blood progression in the legs. Also, the medication works by increasing the blood arteries in the leg and by shutting off blood cells like platelets to stop the blood cells from becoming destructive blood clots. As well as, the medication is sometimes used after particular heart operations to stop arteries from decreasing and forming destructive blood clots.
Side Effects
There are side effects associated with taking Pletal. There is a possibility that the patient will experience little to no side effects.
Some of the common side effects associated with the medication are diarrhea, headache and dizziness. There is a possibility that side
effects can increase in some patients. This is the time to see a physician. Unlikely but serious side effects associated with the medication
are irregular heartbeat, fainting, hands and feet swelling, weakness, vision changes, confusion, slurred speech, chest pain, easy bruising
black stools or blood in stools, yellowing of the skin, infection symptoms and trouble breathing while coughing. You should see a doctor
immediately if you exhibit any of the side effects.
It is possible to have a severe allergic reaction to the drug but very rare. You should visit a doctor if after using the medication you experience itching, severe dizziness, swelling and trouble breathing. This medication can cause dizziness and anyone under the influence of the medication should use caution. You should use caution when performing activities that require alertness like driving and lifting heavy machinery. As well as, you should limit alcohol beverages when using Pletal. Cilostazol is not a recommended medication for anyone that’s breast feeding or pregnant. It is not known if the medicine will pass through the breast milk to the child.
How to Use
The medication should be taken by mouth and taken two times a day. Pletal should be taken 30 minutes before meals or two hours after meals.
The dosage will depend on two factors which are the patient’s medical condition and response to therapy. The most benefits will come from using
the medication on a regular basis.
